BIM graphical model catalogs
BIM models extend the graphical representation of products in InstalSystem 5 – alongside standard 2D symbols and 3D solids, they enable the use of highly detailed models (LOD 300-350) compliant with BIM project requirements. The integration of BIM models is currently available for selected product groups, with the scope being gradually expanded depending on Partners’ needs and interest.
The range of products that can be included in the catalog
- Selected product groups from manufacturers’ catalogs – within the scope agreed as part of the catalog implementation/maintenance, requiring enhanced model representation quality (e.g. devices visible in visualizations and 3D coordination), while maintaining geometry optimization principles to ensure performance efficiency.
The range of data used
- Association of the BIM model with catalog data:
- Indication of the product family or a specific product within the base catalog to which the model applies,
- Source data – the 3D model for integration must be provided by the Partner to InstalSoft:
- Accepted file formats: .obj, .stp, .rfa, .iges,
- .dwg – not preferred (acceptable only as a 3D model; if conversion is required, it may need to be converted to .obj or .step, which increases costs),
- The model must be created in real-world dimensions – the unit in the file must correspond to 1 meter,
- Geometry at LOD 300 or LOD 350 – with appropriate simplification (overly dense geometry may negatively affect performance in the 3D view when a larger number of models is used),
- The Partner should indicate the target LOD of the delivered model,
- Requirements regarding the coordinate system/base point:
- The point (0,0,0) within the model must be located at the element’s connection point to the installation within the project (for example, for valves, the point (0,0,0) should correspond to the center of the pipe forming the base of the valve).
